Jump$tart Names Susan Ladd 2018 Financial Literacy Champion

Vermont Jump$tart names Susan Ladd 2018 Financial Literacy Champion

The Vermont Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy has recognized Susan Ladd as its 2018 Financial Literacy Champion. The Susan Ladd photo for Jump$tartaward recognizes leadership and outstanding innovation and achievement in the effort to advance the financial literacy of Vermont youth. The honor comes with a $1,000 cash award.

Susan Ladd is a former technical center business teacher who taught for 25 years in Vermont. During that time, she was an advisor for her very successful Future Business Leaders of America chapter as well as National Technical Honor Society. Additionally, she took on various business leadership roles and responsibilities which allowed her to travel and gain more leadership skills.   Financial literacy has been incorporated in her teaching, with one of her students winning the first place award for his poster in the Financial Literacy Poster Contest. When it was time to shift gears in her career, her enthusiasm and love for developing student leadership created a natural transition to her current role as Coordinator for the Vermont Career & Technical Student Organizations. Although she has been officially been out of the day-to-day classroom activities for a few years now, she still encourages students to participate in the Vermont Treasury Cup and in the Entrepreneurship Day activities to continue to bring awareness of the importance of financial literacy and its impact on Vermont’s economy.

“Susan’s dedication to excellence in education embodies the mission of the Vermont Jump$tart Coalition” said Judy Ribolini, Jump$tart President.
